Before Shuk Otef Israel there was Shoook — an ambitious digital venture designed to be a high-tech platform for trading agricultural produce. The venture received roughly ₪6 million in funding from state institutions, including the Ministry of Agriculture, out of a belief that a smart link between technology and agriculture could transform an entire market: reducing middleman margins, improving prices and giving farmers more power.
Then the war broke out. Farmers in the Gaza envelope and the north found themselves with damaged fields, a shortage of workers and frozen markets. We realized we couldn't stay in the world of business models, slide decks and development alone — we had to do something on the ground, here and now.
Out of Shoook, Shuk Otef Israel was born — a practical venture, close to the land, that puts those same values into action: connecting farmers with companies, the field with the office, the cart in the village with the kitchenette in the high-tech tower.
